Background

The GSS (Global Services Sector) Project is a 5-year project funded by the Inter-American Development Bank that will provide Jamaicans with access to training and better jobs in the global services sector, namely in Knowledge Process Outsourcing, Information Technology Outsourcing and Business Process Outsourcing. The Project is being executed by the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO).

The GSS High School Immersion Bootcamp

The GSS Project has launched the GSS High School Immersion Bootcamp, a summer online training programme that provides secondary students and recent graduates with an intensive introduction to the industry through career-readiness training, mentoring and guidance. With a focus on digital and soft skills, this bootcamp initiative provides participants between the ages of 16 and 20 with the basic work-ready skills needed to enter the GSS.

It will also provide a great opportunity for students with an interest in specialized tracks to hone in on these areas and be positioned to apply for employment in higher value-added segments in the GSS. The programme currently has 4 specialized tracks: The Fundamentals of Business, Financial Accounting, Information Technology and Industrial Technology.

The GSS Virtual Talent Hub Fair – High School Edition

The GSS Project is proud to host the GSS Careers Unlocked Virtual Fair & Expo on September 30, 2022 as a special edition targeted to the participants in the GSS High School Immersion Bootcamp. Participants in the programme will gain exposure to the world of work through an interactive live session with industry players, and an opportunity to connect with recruiting firms.

Our Fair mirrors a real career day, where the visitor can go through the exhibitor's booth, submit their resumes and interact with the HR delegates of participating companies. The Fair will help these upper-level secondary & tertiary students to:

• Learn more about the GSS working environment and job opportunities in the BPO, KPO & ITO segments of the GSS.
• Learn how to craft their resumes for greater impact and prepare for the world of work.
• Understand the various types of firms in the GSS & the types of job opportunities that exist in these firms.

• The GSS – KPO, BPO & ITO firms registered in Jamaica
• College, Tertiary & Vocational Institute graduates/final year students
• Upper-level secondary students
• Participants in the GSS High School Immersion Bootcamp
